Technical Architect

About the role

As a Technical Architect, you will design the detailed technical architectures and implementation guidelines for systems and applications in the economic and financial domain for our Client, a large international public sector organisation. You will own the alignment between architecture and business goals, policy objectives, and operational constraints — defining non-functional requirements, mitigating technical risk, and guiding the development teams that build the solutions. The working environment is multilingual, and architectural decisions need to be explained convincingly to both technical and business audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement detailed technical architectures and implementation guidelines for systems and applications in the economic and financial domain
  • Ensure technical solutions align with business goals, policy objectives, and operational constraints, and identify and mitigate technical risks and issues relating to performance, security, dependencies, and technical debt
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand, analyse, and gather technical and functional requirements, and provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams
  • Develop solution prototypes and proofs of concept, and evaluate and recommend tools, frameworks, and technologies appropriate for the target environment
  • Define non-functional requirements, establish performance objectives, and support capacity and scalability planning
  • Implement and promote observability and reliability patterns to ensure the resilience and performance of the solutions delivered
  • Support the integration of heterogeneous systems and data exchanges with internal and external stakeholders, and contribute to the evolution and modernisation of existing information systems
  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including component designs, sequence diagrams, API specifications, configuration runbooks, and test strategies, and conduct code reviews to ensure quality and adherence to standards

Requirements

  • A university degree at master's level (or 5 years of higher education) with a minimum of 15 years of IT professional experience
  • 10 years of advanced expertise with Oracle and Oracle PL/SQL
  • 5 years of advanced expertise with Angular and TypeScript
  • 5 years of advanced expertise with Python
  • 5 years of advanced expertise with containerisation using Podman and Docker
  • 5 years of advanced expertise with HTML, XML, and CSS, and 5 years with Airflow
  • 5 years of advanced knowledge of Confluence, Bamboo, and Bitbucket, 2 years of good-level expertise with SDMX, and basic knowledge of economic forecasting
  • Additional requirements: good knowledge of Python NumPy, SciPy, and Pandas, MongoDB, MySQL, Jira, GitLab, Kiro/Amazon Q, and DSPy for AI agent creation; basic knowledge of PostgreSQL; and advanced knowledge of Nx
  • Advanced knowledge of English, both spoken and written, corresponding to Level C1 or higher (CEFR), with the ability to present architectures and architectural decisions in terms understandable to technical and business stakeholders, align architecture across teams, guide and uplift team members, balance long-term architectural vision with near-term delivery needs, manage multiple initiatives and prioritise effectively, take part in multilingual meetings, and work both autonomously and as part of a team
