ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you will own the design and delivery of scalable Java-based applications within a modern microservices ecosystem, contributing to solutions used by millions of customers. You will join a fast-paced engineering team building impactful features across digital retail, with opportunities to work across backend systems and modern frontend technologies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot, ensuring robust system functionality and seamless integrations across microservices
- Own technical solutions end-to-end, improving performance, scalability, and reliability while contributing to high-quality product outcomes
- Collaborate closely with product owners, architects, and cross-functional teams to refine requirements and deliver cohesive features across backend and frontend layers
- Build and enhance user-facing features using modern frameworks such as React or Angular, integrating them effectively with backend APIs
- Contribute to architecture decisions, evaluating trade-offs, and selecting appropriate patterns for both backend and frontend solutions
- Ensure code quality through peer reviews, testing, and best practices across Java, Spring Boot, and frontend technologies
- Optimize application performance by profiling and tuning microservices and frontend components for responsiveness and scalability
- Support and improve CI/CD pipelines, contributing to DevOps practices that enable efficient deployment and release cycles while mentoring junior engineers
REQUIREMENTS
- Strong experience in Java (8/11/17+) and Spring Boot, including designing RESTful APIs and backend systems
- Proficiency in modern web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript
- Hands-on experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems
- Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB, including data modeling and optimization
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Practical knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, containerization with Docker, and orchestration using Kubernetes
- Understanding of Agile/Scrum practices and collaborative delivery approaches
- Strong problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and proficiency in communicating effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Proactive mindset, ownership attitude, and willingness to mentor and support team growth
