ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you will be responsible for validating the business logic and data transformations delivered on the platform. You will design and build automated data verification solutions, reconcile platform outputs against the legacy solution, investigate discrepancies down to their root cause. Your work will be essential to guaranteeing that the new customer solution is accurate, reliable, and trusted by downstream consumers.
REQUIREMENTS
- Create and maintain test plans, test documentation, and test execution reports
- Initially, take automation ownership and gradually enable team contribution
- Review and debug transformation logic in dbt models
- Write dbt tests and guide the team in implementing effective data validation tests
- Own and enhance the existing Python automation framework
- Perform cross-system comparisons for millions of records
- Test and validate complex business logic and data transformations across the platform
- Compare platform outputs against the legacy solution, and investigate, document, and explain any discrepancies
- Apply strong analytical skills to investigate data quality issues and perform root-cause analysis
- Contribute to the integration of automated checks into CI/CD pipelines and ongoing data quality monitoring
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Scripting experience in Python (or a similar language) for building automated data checks
- Strong SQL skills: complex joins, aggregations, reconciliation queries. PostgreSQL would be a plus
- Hands-on experience in reviewing and validating transformation logic, preferably dbt
- Experience with end-to-end data pipeline testing
- Experience in testing event-driven systems, including Kafka validation
- Hands-on experience in designing and implementing performance testing solutions from scratch
- Hands-on AWS experience: S3, RDS, IAM, ECS debugging
- Experience working with modern data platforms like Snowflake, or Airflow
