About the role
In this role, you will design and build Python-based backend services and RESTful APIs, including an API wrapper for machine learning models, while integrating enterprise systems such as Jira and BlueLinx. The role includes greenfield development of a new product from scratch.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop Python-based APIs and backend services
- Build and maintain an API wrapper for the ML model
- Implement integrations with: Jira (workflow tracking and lab data), BlueLinx (inventory synchronization)
- Develop business workflow orchestration logic, including: processing user inputs (brine properties), returning optimized compositions, supporting blending calculations based on inventory
- Implement data persistence for: optimization results, user activity and audit logs, and historical data for future analytics
- Ensure secure access via SSO integration
- Collaborate with DevOps on deployment, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure
- Monitor and optimize API performance, scalability, and reliability
Requirements
- Strong expertise in Python 3.11+ with async programming (asyncio, true async I/O, not threadpool wrappers)
- Hands-on experience with FastAPI in production: dependency injection, middleware, background tasks, streaming responses
- Practical experience with AWS: Lambda, ECS Fargate, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch
- Proficiency in gRPC with bidirectional streaming and Protocol Buffers
- Solid understanding of Authentication flows: OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT validation, JWKS caching, service-to-service auth
- Experience with testing frameworks such as pytest, async tests, fixtures
- Experience with LangChain: chains, agents, tool calling, custom retrievers, memory, callbacks, streaming. Agent development framework: Langgraph, Strands etc. (as a plus)
- Experience with LiteLLM Proxy or any LLM gateway in production (routing, fallback chains, retries, per-key budgets) (as a plus)
- Skills in Amazon Bedrock SDK, Bedrock AgentCore, Knowledge Bases, Prompt Management (as a plus)
