ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Senior Java Engineer, you will join a cross-functional engineering team building and operating mission-critical platform services that connect front-end applications with national and ministry systems. You will play a key role in designing scalable APIs, integration services, identity and authorization components, caching solutions, and event-driven workflows within a modern cloud-native environment powered by Azure Kubernetes Service and GitOps practices.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, develop, and enhance Java-based platform services, APIs, and integration layers that support secure and scalable business-critical solutions
- Own the delivery of reliable backend components, improving system performance, resilience, maintainability, and operational efficiency
- Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, DevOps specialists, and stakeholders to align technical solutions with business and platform objectives
- Build and optimize integrations with distributed external systems using resilient patterns such as retries, circuit breakers, dead-lettering, and outbox mechanisms
- Develop and maintain identity, authentication, and authorization services leveraging modern OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect standards
- Implement caching, messaging, search, and data access strategies using technologies such as Redis, messaging platforms, and relational databases
- Drive observability, reliability, and production excellence through monitoring, OpenTelemetry instrumentation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Contribute to technical leadership through code reviews, mentoring, refactoring efforts, engineering best practices, and active participation in architectural discussions
REQUIREMENTS
- 4+ years of production experience in Java development with strong expertise in Java 21/25, Spring Boot 3/4, Spring Security, Spring Data, and Maven
- Proven experience designing scalable REST APIs, including versioning, idempotency, error handling, rate limiting, and integration of distributed systems
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases, caching technologies such as Redis, and search platforms including Azure AI Search or Elasticsearch
- Practical knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, federated identity solutions, asynchronous messaging systems, Kubernetes, and Azure services including AKS, API Management, Key Vault, and Log Analytics
- Experience with observability practices, GitOps workflows, Infrastructure as Code concepts, and tools such as GitLab, Argo CD, and Terraform
- Nice to have experience with identity verification services, OCR, MRZ, face or liveness verification APIs, JVM performance tuning, and load testing
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on building scalable, resilient, and secure solutions
- Proficiency in performing deep code reviews, mentoring engineers, and contributing to technical excellence across the team
- Upper-Intermediate English level with effective communication and documentation skills
