ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Senior Manual QA Engineer, you will ensure the quality of large-scale grant and expert management systems in a European public-sector environment. You will test complex business workflows across applications and integrated systems, working closely with business analysts, developers, and support teams to deliver reliable, high-quality releases.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define test plans, scope, priorities, scenarios, and test cases, validating user stories, acceptance criteria, business logic, dependencies, and edge cases
- Prepare and manage complex, realistic test data and apply exploratory testing, equivalence partitioning, boundary value analysis, and static/dynamic testing techniques
- Execute functional, regression, integration, UAT, and end-to-end testing across complex grant and expert management workflows
- Track TEST, INT, and PREPROD environments, monitoring deployments, availability, and downtime to support effective test execution
- Perform API and backend validation, using SoapUI, SQL, Oracle SQL Developer, XML, structured data, and Kibana to investigate application behaviour
- Capture test results, screenshots, logs, and supporting evidence; manage tests and defects in Jira and Zephyr with full traceability
- Collaborate with business analysts to clarify requirements and expected behaviour, working with developers and support teams to resolve issues
- Support test reporting and progress tracking, providing clear visibility of test execution, defects, dependencies, and quality risks
REQUIREMENTS
- Master’s degree or equivalent in any field, with 5+ years of professional IT experience and strong manual software testing expertise
- Strong test planning/design and acceptance criteria validation, including exploratory testing, equivalence partitioning, boundary value analysis, and static/dynamic testing
- Experience with Jira and Zephyr for test/defect management and SoapUI for API testing
- Strong SQL skills, including Oracle SQL Developer and complex queries for test data preparation and backend validation
- Experience with Kibana for log analysis and XML/structured data using XML Notepad, Notepad++, or similar tools
- Basic Selenium experience for test execution support and ability to troubleshoot application, API, database, and log layers
- Experience with Agile/Scrum, good knowledge of grants and audit business processes, and familiarity with ChatGPT or Generative AI for test case optimization
- Strong documentation, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- English or French proficiency at B2 level or higher
