ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role you will help organizations across industries take control of their cloud spend by establishing FinOps as a business discipline. You will work within SoftServe’s FinOps practice, delivering structured client engagements that move from cost visibility and savings identification to full governance and operating model implementation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Run cloud cost visibility assessments: account hierarchy analysis, environment segmentation, spend baseline, and trend modeling
- Execute waste and rightsizing analysis across clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Assess and implement commitment strategies – Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, Spot – and produce phased purchasing calendars with ROI models
- Deploy and configure FinOps tooling, close visibility gaps, and hand clients a working cost dashboard before the engagement closes
- Produce the engagement's core deliverables: maturity scorecard, savings report, 90-day action plan, and full assessment readout
- Deliver control engagements
- Build and operationalize the Unified Cost Model: multi-account consolidation, environment segmentation, and a 12-month forecast model
- Implement cost allocation frameworks, showback reports, and chargeback models integrated into client financial reporting
- Configure full budget governance: team-level budgets, anomaly detection with automated alerting, and the FinOps review cadence
REQUIREMENTS
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP (multi-cloud is a strong plus)
- 2+ years of dedicated FinOps experience: cost allocation, tagging governance, commitment management, showback/chargeback, anomaly detection, and FinOps operating model design
- Proven ability to run FinOps engagements end-to-end: from initial assessment and maturity scoring through to implementation and handover
- Hands-on experience with cloud cost management tooling: native tools (AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, GCP Billing Console) and third-party platforms (CloudZero, CloudHealth, Kubecost, or similar)
- Strong command of cloud pricing models: compute, storage, networking, Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, Committed Use Discounts, and Spot/Preemptible strategies
- Experience building cost allocation frameworks, unified cost models, budget governance structures, and forecasting models
- Strong communication skills to present findings to Product Owners, CFO, Engineering Managers, and work through implementation details with a DevOps team in the same day
- Experience facilitating recurring FinOps reviews and stakeholder governance meetings
- English at least upper intermediate level, written and spoken
- Certified Practitioner, Certified Engineer, or Certified Professional (will be a plus)
- Experience in a consulting or client-facing environment (nice to have)
- Familiarity with Kubernetes cost management at the namespace and workload level (optional)
- Experience with billing data pipelines (AWS CUR, Azure Cost Export, GCP BigQuery billing export) (desirable)
- Knowledge of SaaS spend management and AI/ML workload cost optimization (advantageous)
- Knowledge of Terraform (advantageous)
