About the role
In this role, you will lead the migration of business-critical data from SAP ECC and SAP BW into a modern AWS and Databricks environment. You will drive technical decisions around data extraction and migration, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and mentor engineers to deliver reliable, scalable solutions that support business transformation.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end data migration from SAP ECC and SAP BW into AWS S3 and Databricks
- Design, develop, and optimize SAP extractors, including standard and custom solutions for datasets beyond ODP capabilities
- Build and maintain SAP Data Services (BODS) jobs and workflows, ensuring reliable data extraction, delta processing, and error handling
- Configure and troubleshoot integrations between SAP Data Services and external platforms, including AWS S3
- Validate migration quality by reconciling source and target data, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of full and delta loads
- Collaborate with Databricks Engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver scalable data migration solutions
- Mentor engineers, share technical expertise, and contribute to Agile ceremonies and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in SAP engineering, including hands-on delivery of SAP ECC and SAP BW data migration projects
- Strong knowledge of SAP ECC and SAP BW data models, with experience designing and maintaining standard and custom SAP extractors
- Hands-on experience with SAP Data Services (BODS), including workflow design, datastore configuration, delta processing, error handling, and integration with external platforms
- Experience validating data migrations through reconciliation, data quality checks, and full and delta load verification
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience working in Agile teams and mentoring other engineers
- Experience with AWS S3, Databricks, or RFC/ABAP-based data extraction would be an advantage
