About the role
In this role, you will join a new cloud-native Warranty Portal project for a large global automotive manufacturer. The system is being developed on AWS and integrates with multiple enterprise and external platforms supporting warranty validation, pricing, financial processing, AI-assisted decisioning, inspections, logistics, and reporting.
You will join SoftServe’s Center of Excellence for API Management & Integration and work as part of the Integration team together with senior engineers, an Integration Architect, backend developers, QA engineers, and client technical specialists.
The solution uses Java, Spring Boot, AWS, REST/OpenAPI, event-driven architecture, and a Modular Monolith approach with a dedicated Integration Facade and system-specific adapters.
Responsibilities
- Develop backend integration components using Java and Spring Boot
- Implement and maintain REST API clients and system-specific integration adapters
- Map external API models into the Portal’s internal integration and domain models
- Implement APIs based on OpenAPI specifications and contribute to keeping API contracts synchronized with implementation
- Develop asynchronous integration flows using SQS, EventBridge, Lambda, and ECS-based workers
- Implement retry, timeout, idempotency, error-handling, and logging mechanisms according to established integration patterns
- Work with Aurora PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, S3, and SQL-based data access
- Integrate securely with AWS and external services using Secrets Manager, Parameter Store, Cognito, IAM, and application credentials
- Implement unit, integration, and contract tests for external-system interactions
- Create mocks and test fixtures when external environments or APIs are unavailable
- Investigate integration defects across multiple systems and support troubleshooting and reconciliation
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, backlog refinement, and integration design sessions
- Collaborate with Senior Engineers and the Integration Architect to progressively improve integration reliability and maintainability
Requirements
- 3+ years of commercial Java development experience, preferably with Java 17+ and Spring Boot
- Hands-on experience developing REST APIs and integrating with external services
- Practical experience with at least several AWS services such as ECS/Fargate, Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, S3, RDS/Aurora, or DynamoDB
- Understanding of OpenAPI/Swagger and API contract concepts
- Understanding of synchronous and asynchronous integration patterns
- Familiarity with patterns such as Adapter, Facade, Retry, Circuit Breaker, and Pub/Sub
- Experience working with relational databases and SQL; PostgreSQL experience is preferred
- Basic understanding of idempotency, distributed-system failures, and resilient API integration
- Experience with Git, CI/CD, containerized applications, and automated testing
- Understanding of JWT/OAuth2/OIDC and API security fundamentals
- Proficiency in troubleshooting API and integration problems using logs, traces, database records, and HTTP tooling
- Good English communication skills and readiness to collaborate effectively in an international team
