Lead Robotics Engineer (Industrial Robotics & Automation)

About the role

In this role, you will be working on solutions innovation for complex automation challenges, focusing on areas such as robotic arms, end-effectors, and humanoid robots to enhance precision, productivity, and efficiency in industry. You will be leading the technical delivery of industrial robotics and automation solutions, including robotic arms, humanoid robots, legged robots, mobile platforms, end-effectors, and integrated robotic systems.

The Industrial Robotics & Automation (IRaA) subdivision within the SoftServe Robotics Group specializes in developing and integrating advanced robotic systems for various industrial applications.

Responsibilities

  • Guide engineering teams in designing, developing, testing, and integrating robotics software and control systems
  • Own technical execution within project workstreams, ensuring code quality, architectural consistency, and reliable delivery
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, project managers, product stakeholders, researchers, and customers to transform requirements into practical technical solutions
  • Participate in technical discovery, feasibility analysis, estimation, risk identification, and solution planning
  • Drive implementation decisions related to motion planning, control, simulation, hardware integration, deployment, and system performance.
  • Establish and promote best practices for robotics software development, testing, CI/CD, simulation, debugging, and documentation
  • Mentor engineers, support onboarding, conduct technical reviews, and help grow IRaA engineering expertise
  • Conduct regular research on the latest trends, tools, and technologies in industrial robotics, automation, simulation, and AI-enabled robotics

Requirements

  • BS/MS/Ph.D. in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Control Systems, or a related field
  • Experience in leading engineering teams or technical workstreams in robotics, automation, embedded systems, or complex software engineering projects
  • Strong experience in robotics fundamentals, including motion planning, trajectory optimization, kinematics, dynamics, control, and system integration.
  • Experience with sensors, actuators, control systems, robotic arms, end-effectors, mobile robots, humanoid robots, legged robots, or industrial automation equipment
  • Proficiency in C++, Python, Linux, and modern software engineering practices
  • Experience with ROS/ROS2, MoveIt2, and simulation-based development; NVIDIA Isaac Sim experience is a strong advantage
  • Strong experience in engineering tools such as Git, CMake, Make, GDB, CI/CD, testing frameworks, profiling tools, and code quality practices
  • Proficiency in decomposing complex technical problems, defining implementation approaches, and guiding engineers through delivery
  • Skills in code review, technical design review, debugging, performance optimization, and maintaining high engineering standards
