ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you will help build and evolve a scalable data platform with near-real-time reporting capabilities, enabling hospital staff and management to improve analytics, streamline operations, and support data-driven decision-making. Working within a distributed engineering team, you will contribute to the design, development, and optimization of backend services in a modern cloud-based environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services, APIs, and microservices primarily using Java and related frameworks
- Take ownership of backend components, ensuring high performance, scalability, stability, and maintainability across the platform
- Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, QA specialists, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable solutions and support project goals
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of data processing workflows that power near-real-time reporting capabilities
- Participate in architecture discussions, evaluate technical approaches, and support key engineering decisions
- Improve system efficiency through debugging, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and proactive issue resolution
- Write clean, well-documented, and thoroughly tested code, covering both unit and integration testing scenarios
- Contribute to Agile delivery processes, including task estimation, sprint planning, code reviews, CI/CD practices, and containerized deployments
REQUIREMENTS
- Strong commercial experience in Java development
- Proficiency in writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code
- Solid knowledge of backend development principles, object-oriented programming, design patterns, and software engineering best practices
- Experience with Java frameworks, preferably Spring or Spring Boot
- Hands-on expertise in designing and implementing RESTful APIs, backend services, microservices, and distributed systems
- Knowledge of cloud platforms, preferably AWS, along with experience working with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines
- Practical experience with application debugging, troubleshooting, optimization, and automated testing approaches
- Strong communication skills in English, willingness to learn new technologies, and readiness to contribute across different areas of the system
- Familiarity with Go, TypeScript, JavaScript, or React (as an advantage)
- Understanding of security and compliance standards, including HIPAA and data protection regulations (is a plus)
