ABOUT THE ROLE
You will contribute to building and evolving a secure, scalable AKS platform within a platform runtime pod. The role focuses on implementing infrastructure using Terraform and established patterns, ensuring reliable cluster operations and platform services. You will work within a collaborative team, delivering production-ready cloud solutions aligned with modern engineering standards
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build AKS clusters and their dependent data, storage and eventing services in Terraform, working from the platform's existing modules and patterns.
- Implement cluster networking to the agreed design: Azure CNI Overlay with Cilium, private clusters, ingress and controlled egress.
- Apply the cluster hardening baselines: Pod Security Standards, admission control and secrets via Key Vault.
- Configure service mesh (Istio) for mutual TLS and basic traffic policy, following the mesh templates.
- Set up data and messaging services with private endpoints, zone redundancy and customer-managed keys.
- Develop Helm charts and CI/CD pipelines for repeatable delivery.
- Instrument observability with the Prometheus stack and Azure Monitor, and wire up image signing and scanning in the supply chain.
- Raise and work through pull requests, respond to review, and review peers' straightforward changes.
REQUIREMEMENTS
- 3+ years in DevOps or platform engineering, with hands-on Terraform and container experience.
- Working Azure Kubernetes networking: Azure CNI Overlay with Cilium, ingress and egress, workload identity.
- Some experience deploying Azure data, storage or eventing services privately and with redundancy.
- Practical cluster hardening basics: Pod Security Standards, admission control and Key Vault secrets.
- Familiarity with service mesh (Istio), Helm and GitOps.
- Some exposure to the Prometheus stack and Azure Monitor.
- Comfortable with CI/CD pipelines and the container supply chain (signing, scanning).
- Works well-scoped tasks end to end under review.
