ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you will help build and evolve a scalable SD-WAN platform by developing reliable backend services with Ruby on Rails. You will work in a collaborative environment alongside frontend engineers, product owners, and DevOps specialists, contributing to the delivery of customer-facing features, platform performance, and production-ready solutions across globally distributed teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Ruby on Rails to support the evolution of the SD-WAN platform
- Own the delivery of backend functionality that improves platform reliability, performance, and customer experience while ensuring production readiness
- Collaborate closely with frontend engineers, product owners, DevOps teams, and other stakeholders to deliver end-to-end solutions
- Build, integrate, and maintain RESTful APIs consumed by frontend applications and external services
- Participate throughout the software development lifecycle, from solution design and implementation to deployment, monitoring, and support
- Ensure high code quality through automated testing, peer code reviews, and adherence to continuous integration and delivery practices
- Optimize application performance, scalability, and database interactions to support growing business and technical requirements
- Contribute to feature planning, implementation, maintenance activities, and technical improvements while sharing expertise across distributed teams
REQUIREMENTS
- Strong commercial experience in Ruby and Ruby on Rails backend development, including experience leading internal engineering teams
- Solid expertise in designing, developing, and integrating RESTful APIs
- Hands-on experience with SQL databases, particularly PostgreSQL
- Practical experience working with GitLab, GitHub, Jira, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software development practices
- Experience delivering General Availability (GA) features and supporting production-ready releases
- Proven background working on enterprise-scale projects with globally distributed, multi-time-zone teams
- Knowledge of Scala or React is considered a plus
- Strong product mindset with the ability to translate business requirements into reliable and scalable backend solutions
- Effective communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills in agile environments
