ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you will join a team rebuilding a modern service-oriented platform made up of 12 microservices running on Amazon EKS. As a Senior Go Engineer, you will act as the technical anchor for the Go ecosystem, shape architectural standards, and drive performance-critical services. You will help define the foundation for scalable, event-driven healthcare and benefits solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own and evolve Go service architecture standards, ensuring consistent domain, handler, and repository layering with thin handlers and maintainable domain-driven design
- Design, develop, and optimize high-performance Go services, improving scalability, reliability, and response times across business-critical platform capabilities
- Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and stakeholders to define service boundaries, data ownership models, and implementation approaches
- Build and maintain shared Go libraries, including scope-predicates, event-contracts, authentication middleware, and audit logging components
- Deliver and optimize performance-sensitive services such as Rules Engine and Enrollment, supporting low-latency evaluations and high-volume concurrent user workloads
- Design and implement event-driven integrations using EventBridge, SQS, and related messaging technologies while ensuring idempotency, traceability, and resilience
- Develop and orchestrate stateful business workflows and saga patterns with AWS Step Functions for complex operational processes
- Lead code reviews, establish engineering standards, mentor Go developers, and contribute to the continuous improvement of development practices and technical excellence
REQUIREMENTS
- Practical experience with Agentic AI systems
- Proven experience building production-grade Go services using frameworks such as Chi or Gin, with strong knowledge of goroutines, concurrency patterns, and explicit error handling
- Hands-on expertise with PostgreSQL using pgx or sqlc and experience implementing schema-per-service architectures without cross-service foreign keys
- Strong background in microservices development, Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, containerization, and HPA autoscaling
- Practical experience with event-driven architectures using EventBridge, SQS, or equivalent technologies, including idempotent consumers and correlation IDs
- Knowledge of JWT and OIDC authentication, structured logging with slog or zerolog, and OpenTelemetry-based observability and tracing
- Familiarity with AWS CDK, Aurora Serverless v2, ElastiCache or Redis, and cloud-native application development (is a plus)
- Experience in healthcare, insurance, or benefits domains, including HIPAA-aware handling of sensitive data (desirable)
- Strong technical leadership, mentoring, communication, and collaboration skills with a commitment to engineering best practices (nice to have)
