ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you will contribute to a large-scale global infrastructure environment supporting more than 10 data centers worldwide. As a VMware Solutions Engineer, you will help ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of critical virtualization and compute platforms for a global technology leader. This role offers the opportunity to solve complex infrastructure challenges, drive automation initiatives, and collaborate with distributed teams across multiple regions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and maintain VMware-based virtualization infrastructure, ensuring stability, scalability, and high availability across global data centers
- Own virtualization lifecycle activities, including planning and performing VMware upgrades, patch management, and configuration optimization to reduce operational risk
- Collaborate with infrastructure, storage, networking, and operations teams to deliver reliable and high-performing compute services
- Monitor platform health proactively, analyze performance trends, and troubleshoot virtualization issues before they impact business operations
- Implement and manage storage integrations with UCS and VMware environments, ensuring optimal configuration and performance
- Automate operational processes using PowerShell, Python, Ansible, or similar technologies to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort
- Perform capacity planning, infrastructure audits, and continuous improvement initiatives to maintain alignment with operational best practices
- Manage snapshot policies, replication processes, hardware lifecycle activities, and configuration standards to support long-term platform reliability
REQUIREMENTS
- At least 4 years of hands-on experience supporting production infrastructure environments
- Strong practical expertise with VMware virtualization technologies and virtualization configuration management
- Experience working with one or more enterprise hardware vendors
- Solid knowledge of storage integration with UCS and VMware platforms
- Strong understanding of RAID levels, thin and thick provisioning, deduplication, compression, snapshots, and synchronous or asynchronous replication
- Proven troubleshooting skills in complex infrastructure environments
- Scripting and automation experience with PowerShell, Python, Ansible, or similar tools
- Experience in on-call support rotations
- Upper-intermediate communication skills, proactive problem-solving approach, and ability to work effectively in a global, multi-team environment
