ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you will contribute to the development of modern banking and lending solutions for a growing UK-based specialist bank serving SMEs and individual customers. Working within a cross-functional Agile team, you will design and deliver scalable backend services, enhance financial products, and influence technical decisions that improve both customer experience and business outcomes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and develop backend services and APIs using C#, ASP.NET Core, and microservices architecture
- Deliver high-quality software solutions with a focus on scalability, maintainability, performance, and business value
- Collaborate closely with product owners, business analysts, QA engineers, architects, and client stakeholders
- Build and optimise integrations between applications, services, and data platforms
- Develop and maintain SQL database components, ensuring reliable data processing and system performance
- Implement automated testing strategies, including unit and API testing
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation within Azure cloud environments
- Analyse business requirements and propose technical improvements and innovative solutions
- Support Agile development processes and participate in planning, refinement, review, and delivery activities
REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years of commercial backend development experience with C# and ASP.NET Core
- Strong knowledge of RESTful API development and testing using tools such as Postman
- Practical experience with SQL, including database design, querying, and performance optimisation
- Experience working with Azure or other public cloud platforms in enterprise environments
- Strong understanding of SOLID principles, object-oriented programming, and .NET design patterns
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed systems
- Experience with automated testing and software quality assurance practices
- Understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in translating business requirements into effective technical solutions
- Collaborative mindset and experience working in distributed, multicultural teams
- Strong English communication skills and confidence working directly with international clients
