ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Data Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for building, scaling, and maintaining the core data platform that serves as the foundation for analytics across the organization. You will own the infrastructure, tooling, and governance practices that enable reliable, secure, and high-quality data delivery while improving the developer experience for Data Engineering teams. Working closely with engineers and stakeholders, you will help shape standards, automation, and operational excellence across the data ecosystem.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build, maintain, and enhance the core data platform infrastructure, including Kubernetes workloads, CI/CD pipelines, Git repositories, and BigQuery environments
- Own and improve platform capabilities that support data replication, transformation, and modeling, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance
- Collaborate closely with Data Engineering teams and stakeholders to establish best practices, streamline development workflows, and improve platform adoption
- Develop and maintain internal tooling, custom container images, and automation solutions that accelerate data development and operational efficiency
- Manage infrastructure as code using Terraform while enforcing security, governance, and access control standards across the data ecosystem
- Implement and enhance centralized monitoring, alerting, observability, and incident management processes using tools such as GCP Alerts, Monte Carlo, and PagerDuty
- Define, document, and promote data engineering standards, including coding practices, CI/CD processes, testing frameworks, and data lifecycle management
- Optimize platform operations and cloud spending by monitoring infrastructure usage, improving resource allocation, and building cost-management capabilities
REQUIREMENTS
- 4+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering
- Hands-on experience with Python or Go for building infrastructure, automation, and platform tooling
- Strong practical experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and Infrastructure as Code methodologies
- Solid knowledge of Google Cloud Platform and data warehouse technologies, particularly BigQuery
- Experience working directly with data pipelines, data modeling, SQL troubleshooting, and query performance optimization
- Strong experience with dbt deployment and operations, CI/CD implementation, Git workflows, and package management tools such as Poetry or uv
- Experience configuring and managing observability and operational tooling, including Monte Carlo, PagerDuty, or similar platforms
- Strong automation mindset with a focus on testing, reliability, maintainability, and continuous improvement
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills with the ability to support distributed engineering teams
- Self-driven, highly organized, and comfortable working in Agile, remote-first environments
- Upper-intermediate or higher level of English
