ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you will contribute to a large-scale cloud modernization initiative focused on migrating and transforming data platforms from Azure to Google Cloud Platform. You will work with modern GCP data services, helping design and implement scalable data solutions while supporting migration acceleration through automation and AI-assisted approaches. Working closely with architects, database specialists, and engineering teams, you will help ensure reliable, efficient, and business-critical data platform transformations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and execute the strategic migration and refactoring of legacy Azure Data Factory (ADF) pipelines and Azure Logic Apps into scalable GCP native architectures
- Architect and build high-performance data workflows leveraging GCP services such as Cloud Data Fusion, Cloud Composer, Cloud Workflows, and Cloud Functions
- Champion the integration of AI-assisted migration tools and LLMs to accelerate, automate, and validate code translation (e.g., ADF or LogicApps to corresponding GCP services, T-SQL stored procedures to GoogleSQL, JSON to YAML)
- Collaborate closely with database administrators and GCP architects to ensure seamless database cutovers and state-preservation during cloud-to-cloud transfers
- Establish migration design patterns, CI/CD templates, and validation frameworks using CI/CD processes to ensure data integrity and zero-downtime cutovers
- Mentor mid-level and junior engineers on GCP data engineering best practices, bridging the knowledge gap between Azure and GCP ecosystems
REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Big Data, or cloud-based data platform development
- Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform and data services such as BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Data Fusion, Cloud Composer, Cloud Functions, and Cloud Workflows
- Hands-on experience designing and building scalable data pipelines and workflow orchestration solutions
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with Cloud SQL, SQL Server, or similar database technologies
- Experience delivering cloud migration, modernization, or platform transformation projects
- Knowledge of CI/CD practices and automation frameworks for data platform development
- Experience working with Azure Data Factory, Azure Logic Apps, or similar integration technologies is highly desirable
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
- Upper-intermediate or higher level of English
- Experience with Power BI or other BI and reporting tools (as a plus)
