ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you will design and operate scalable data and machine learning platform capabilities that support cloud-based analytics and ML solutions. You will work as part of a SoftServe engineering team delivering enterprise-grade platforms for one of the UK’s largest supermarket groups, contributing to the reliability, performance, and observability of data and ML services used at a nationwide scale.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and develop scalable data and platform capabilities using Python, building data ingestion pipelines, DBT-based transformation frameworks, ML infrastructure components, monitoring solutions, and governance controls aligned with established technical standards
- Drive end-to-end ownership of data and ML platform reliability and performance, improving scalability, observability, and operational stability of cloud-based services and pipelines across environments
- Collaborate closely with data engineers, ML engineers, and platform teams to support the development, deployment, and monitoring of Python-based data processing and machine learning solutions
- Implement infrastructure as code using Terraform to provision and manage cloud resources that support scalable data and machine learning platforms across multiple environments
- Configure and manage cloud-based infrastructure and platform services, ensuring adherence to defined architecture patterns, security practices, and configuration standards
- Troubleshoot platform issues and implement improvements together with senior engineers, strengthening the stability and operational efficiency of data pipelines and ML services
- Integrate monitoring and observability solutions to track platform health, pipeline performance, and infrastructure utilization across distributed cloud environments
- Participate in technical discussions and platform design sessions, contributing to the evolution of standards, reusable patterns, and best practices for Python-based data and ML infrastructure
REQUIREMENTS
- Advanced Python skills and experience with building, testing, and maintaining scalable backend or data-oriented applications
- Strong proficiency with Azure Machine Learning for developing, deploying, and managing machine learning workloads in cloud environments
- Practical experience with Azure API Management (APIM) for designing, publishing, securing, and monitoring APIs
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform for provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure
- Practical experience with GitHub Workflows for implementing CI/CD automation and repository-based development pipelines (nice-to-have)
- Hands-on experience with Azure Function Apps for developing serverless cloud solutions and event-driven services (nice-to-have)
- Working knowledge of Azure Storage Containers for managing and integrating cloud-based object storage solutions (nice-to-have)
- Practical experience with Terragrunt for managing and structuring Terraform configurations in complex environments (nice-to-have)
- Working proficiency with Bash scripting for automation, environment configuration, and operational tasks (nice-to-have)
- General knowledge of AWS cloud services and ecosystem concepts (nice-to-have)
- Practical familiarity with UNIX environments and common command-line utilities for development and operational workflows (nice-to-have)
