ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you will join a dedicated full-time team working directly with a US-based IT company that develops one of the world’s most trusted open ecosystems for sourcing, building, and deploying data science and AI initiatives.
As a C/C++ Software Engineer and Package Builder, you will work with native applications, build environments, package building, and open-source ecosystems. You will create and maintain Conda recipes, build and release packages, troubleshoot complex dependency issues, and contribute to improving automation, reliability, and delivery quality across the package-building process.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create, update, build, test, and release Conda packages used within the data science and AI ecosystem
- Develop and maintain Conda recipes for native libraries and applications
- Work with C and C++ source code to build software, detect dependencies, create patches, and resolve build issues
- Support release processes for native applications, especially in Windows environments
- Troubleshoot complex build, dependency, and platform-specific issues across Linux and Windows
- Work with build tools such as CMake, autotools, nmake, gcc, and related compilers and utilities
- Identify repetitive manual tasks and propose automation improvements
- Contribute to requirements clarification, scope estimation, and sprint planning
- Build strong relationships with open-source package maintainers and support issue resolution
REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years of experience as a Software or DevOps Engineer
- Strong proficiency in C, C++ and able to dive into source code to build and detect dependencies / create patches, etc
- Experience in releasing native applications on Windows
- Solid knowledge of Linux and Windows system administration
- Hands-on experience with build tools like CMake, autotools, nmake, and gcc, etc
- Proficiency in Git or other version control software
- Proficient in troubleshooting complex problems and coming up with alternative solutions
- Understanding of development lifecycle (design, test, implement, document) and release management using modern collaboration and task management tools
- Experience with package building, compilers, and packaging tools
- Upper-intermediate or higher level of English
- Experience with Python (nice to have)
- Experience with package building, knowledge of related compilers, utils, tools (as a bonus)
- Packaging software Homebrew, RPM, Conda (would be a plus)
- Experience in contributing to open-source repositories (optional)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (would be a plus)
