ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Senior Atlassian DC to Cloud Enterprise Migration Specialist to lead complex, enterprise-scale migrations from Atlassian Data Center environments to Atlassian Cloud Enterprise. In this role, you will own migration strategy, execution, and post-migration success, partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure secure, scalable, and low-risk transitions for large organizations with extensive customizations and integrations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead end-to-end migrations of Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo, and related Atlassian Data Center products to Atlassian Cloud Enterprise
- Own migration planning and execution, reducing operational risk and ensuring successful delivery across multiple concurrent enterprise migration initiatives
- Collaborate closely with IT, Security, Compliance, business stakeholders, and platform teams to align migration scope, readiness, and adoption plans
- Conduct current-state assessments, including instance health checks, data quality reviews, customization audits, app compatibility analysis, and user mapping
- Design and execute migration approaches such as phased, parallel-run, incremental, or big-bang strategies based on business requirements
- Manage data transformation activities, including workflows, custom fields, permission models, notification schemes, automation rules, and identity migration
- Create migration runbooks, rollback procedures, readiness scorecards, risk registers, communication plans, and resource estimates
- Lead UAT activities, perform post-migration validation, provide hypercare support, and guide Data Center decommissioning according to established best practices
REQUIREMENTS
- 7+ years of hands-on experience administering Atlassian products, including Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo, and Crowd
- 3+ years of direct experience delivering Data Center to Cloud migrations using Atlassian Cloud Migration Assistant and related migration tools
- Deep expertise in Atlassian Cloud Enterprise capabilities, including Atlassian Guard, data residency, organization administration, release tracks, and sandbox environments
- Strong knowledge of Atlassian APIs (REST and GraphQL), migration automation, data validation, and scripting practices
- Experience with identity migration involving LDAP, Active Directory, Crowd, SCIM, SAML SSO, Okta, and Microsoft Entra ID
- Hands-on experience with Marketplace app migrations, ScriptRunner, Automation for Jira, JSM Assets (Insight), and enterprise-scale environments with 10,000+ users
- Understanding of cloud security, governance, compliance standards, networking considerations, and Atlassian Guard Premium capabilities
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and change management skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Experience working in globally distributed teams, mentoring colleagues, and navigating complex environments with evolving requirements
