ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you will contribute to the development of secure and scalable backend services supporting the digital transformation of patent-granting processes and corporate services. Working within a distributed delivery team, you will help build modern, cloud-native solutions for a large intergovernmental organization operating across Europe.
The position combines hands-on Java backend development with close collaboration across engineering, quality, and operations teams, with a strong focus on reliability, security, and long-term system sustainability.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and maintain backend services using Java, Spring, and Spring Boot
- Design and optimize data-driven components integrating PostgreSQL and analytical platforms such as BigQuery
- Produce clean, testable, and maintainable code supported by unit and integration tests
- Contribute to cloud-native solution development within Google Cloud Platform environments
- Support application deployment and operations using Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis to production support
- Apply engineering standards, security requirements, and best practices consistently
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions
- Contribute to continuous improvement of system architecture and development processes
REQUIREMENTS
- Hands-on experience with Java backend development using Spring and Spring Boot
- Working knowledge of Hibernate and relational databases, including PostgreSQL
- Practical experience writing unit and integration tests with JUnit
- Exposure to analytical data platforms such as BigQuery or similar technologies
- Proficiency with build tools such as Maven
- Experience using version control systems, particularly GitHub
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools, including Kubernetes
- Understanding of cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Interest or experience in CI/CD tools such as ArgoCD
- Consistent application of clean code practices, OOP principles, and design patterns
- Analytical, solution-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working proficiency in English within an international environment
