Middle Test Automation Engineer (Python / Go)

About the role

In this role, you will design and implement Python/Go automated tests to validate end-to-end functionality, deepening your understanding of complex system and application behaviors while collaborating with senior engineers. You’ll contribute to test automation for a security product, helping ensure its reliability and protection for users worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement automated tests to validate functional and performance behavior of systems both in isolation and at scale, following guidance and code review feedback from senior team members
• Own the maintenance and continuous improvement of existing automated tests to enhance test reliability, coverage, and overall product quality, collaborating closely with senior engineers for alignment and support
• Collaborate with senior team members and other stakeholders to integrate automated testing workflows into existing development processes, ensuring test results are reviewed, understood, and acted upon effectively
• Develop and extend internal test libraries to increase reusability, consistency, and efficiency of automated test creation across projects
• Contribute to internal testing tools by adding new features, refining existing functionality, and addressing issues to better support automated test execution and analysis
• Execute automated test suites and analyze results to identify functional defects and performance regressions in systems under varying load and scale conditions
• Validate system behavior in isolated environments, ensuring individual components function correctly before integration with larger system contexts
• Validate system performance at scale, helping to ensure that applications meet expected performance benchmarks and behave reliably under high load
• Participate in code review processes for test code, both receiving and incorporating feedback from senior team members to improve code quality and test design
• Document automated tests, internal test libraries, and tools usage to support knowledge sharing and facilitate onboarding for other engineers

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in a software development or test automation role, focusing on backend services and automated testing
• Strong proficiency with Golang or Python, able to write clean, maintainable code for automated tests, shared libraries, and internal tools for functional and performance testing with support from senior engineers
• Hands-on experience testing REST APIs, including request/response validation, authentication, error handling, pagination, and rate limit verification
• Practical experience with creating synthetic files and generating diverse test data sets for automation testing, including malformed, edge-case, and high-volume inputs
• Solid knowledge of Linux or Unix-based operating systems for development, test execution, and troubleshooting
• Proficiency with Git and code review workflows, including branching, pull requests, and collaborative code improvements
• Experience with bug tracking tools for logging, updating, and closing defects
• Ability to provide concise, reproducible steps when reporting issues to the development team
• Strong understanding of writing requirements, defining test scenarios, and managing defect tracking throughout its lifecycle
• Practical experience with identifying test cases and determining what to automate, with guidance on prioritizing coverage by risk and impact
• Strong ability to debug failures across the stack and distinguish product bugs from test or environment issues using logs, services, and databases
• Collaborative working style, able to work closely with cross-functional teams throughout the design and development process
• Strong Intermediate level of English for effective communication
