About the role
Join SoftServe as a Test Automation Engineer to focus on validating the reliability, scalability, security, and usability of software-defined networking products. The role combines strong networking knowledge with hands-on Python-based test automation, UI automation using Playwright, REST API testing, and CI/CD. You will work closely with platform, backend, frontend, development, and systems engineering teams to improve automation quality, identify product risks, and prevent regressions throughout the software development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute test strategies covering Catalyst SD-WAN features and end-to-end product workflows
- Develop and maintain test automation using Python
- Build and maintain UI automation using Playwright or comparable browser automation frameworks
- Test and automate RESTful APIs, including positive and negative scenarios, authentication, payload validation, and error handling
- Analyze test failures, logs, stack traces, API responses, browser artifacts, and system behavior to identify root causes
- Identify and resolve flaky automation tests to improve stability, coverage, execution performance, reliability, and maintainability
- Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or similar tools
- Report, track, and manage software defects through resolution
- Collaborate with platform, backend, frontend, development, networking, and infrastructure engineering teams
- Apply AI-assisted engineering practices where appropriate to improve testing and automation efficiency
Requirements
- Strong networking fundamentals at CCNA/CCNP knowledge level, including IPv4/IPv6, TCP/IP, routing and switching, VLANs, VRFs, NAT, DHCP, DNS, and QoS
- Good understanding of routing protocols and concepts, including BGP and OSPF
- Hands-on experience developing test automation using Python
- Practical experience with Playwright or a comparable browser automation framework
- Hands-on network troubleshooting experience using packet captures, logs, counters, and device CLI
- Working knowledge of SD-WAN concepts, including underlay/overlay networks, control/management/data planes, WAN edge devices and controllers, tunnels, segmentation, VPNs, routing policies, high availability, and failover
- Experience testing and automating HTTP/RESTful APIs, including authentication, JSON/XML payloads, request/response validation, negative testing, and error handling
- Experience with Git-based development workflows, including branching, merging, pull requests, code reviews, and conflict resolution
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or similar tools
- Experience with Jira, GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, or equivalent engineering tools
- CCNA or CCNP certification (as an advantage)
- Hands-on experience with Catalyst SD-WAN (would be a plus)
- Experience testing enterprise networking, SD-WAN, cloud networking, routing, switching, or security products
- Knowledge of network security technologies such as Firewall, ZTNA, and SASE (nice to have)
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
- Experience identifying and improving flaky or unstable automated tests
- Experience with defect reporting, tracking, and management
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of test quality, and collaborate effectively within cross-functional engineering teams
