ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you will build and operate the AWS environment that runs malware analysis workloads on virtual machines. You will turn agreed designs into working Terraform infrastructure and make sure analysis hosts are replaced, recovered, and patched without disruption. You will see how a long-established security product is re-engineered for the cloud, alongside engineers who have done it before.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build and maintain the AWS infrastructure that runs virtual-machine analysis workloads, using Terraform as the single source of truth
- Own instance replacement, recovery, and patching so that analysis hosts reach a verified ready state before they take production traffic
- Work with senior engineers and the client's platform team to test proposed designs and feed the results back into architecture decisions
- Configure AWS Secrets Manager together with the credential and certificate handling behind the malware-definition distribution pipeline
- Automate AMI image-building pipelines, Auto Scaling Group configuration, and persistent and ephemeral storage
- Prototype how new malware definitions reach running instances, and what persists when an instance is replaced or scaled down
- Run test scenarios for scalability, recovery, and backward compatibility with the existing appliance, and record the evidence
- Document operational procedures and runbooks so the environment can be handed over and supported cleanly
REQUIREMENTS
- 3+ years of hands-on experience building and operating AWS infrastructure
- Working Terraform experience in a shared codebase, with version control and peer review
- Solid EC2 lifecycle knowledge, especially instance replacement, recovery, and patching, plus Auto Scaling Groups and AMIs
- Practical experience with VPC networking, security groups, and IAM roles and permissions
- Hands-on use of AWS Secrets Manager or an equivalent secrets-management service
- Familiarity with relational databases on AWS, ideally PostgreSQL or Aurora PostgreSQL
- Confident Python scripting for automation, testing, and day-to-day operational tooling
- Interest in isolated or security-sensitive infrastructure; prior exposure to sandboxed or virtual-machine workloads is welcome
- Fluent English and a collaborative approach to taking technical direction in a distributed team
