ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you will drive backend development across key WFM modules, taking ownership of architecture decisions, code quality, and seamless integrations within a modern cloud-based environment. You will join a focused delivery team building a Workforce Management platform for a leading US on-demand delivery company, working closely with the client’s engineering lead.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and develop Ruby on Rails backend services for key WFM modules, ensuring scalability and reliability of the solution
- Own implementation decisions and deliver production-quality code that improves system performance and maintainability
- Collaborate closely with the client’s engineering lead, product SME, and cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business needs
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs consumed by the React and TypeScript frontend, ensuring consistency and performance
- Integrate external systems, including Okta authentication, EventBridge messaging, and Snowflake data sources
- Conduct code reviews, enforce best practices, and maintain high standards of testing, coverage, and linting
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and daily async communication within a distributed team
- Document architecture decisions, API contracts, and contribute to knowledge transfer and smooth project handover
REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years of backend development experience with at least 3 years in Ruby on Rails production environments
- Strong expertise in PostgreSQL, including query optimization, indexing, and schema migrations
- Solid knowledge of RESTful API design and integration principles
- Hands-on experience with AWS services such as ECS, ECR, EventBridge, or similar cloud platforms
- Practical experience with OAuth 2.0 and JWT authentication flows
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate directly with client stakeholders
- Proactive ownership mindset with proficiency to drive solutions and identify risks early
- Upper-Intermediate or higher English level for effective teamwork in an international environment
- Experience integrating with external systems and data platforms, such as Snowflake (is a plus)
