Lead Full Stack Software Engineer

About the role

As a Lead Full-stack Engineer, you will develop and maintain financial information systems with a particular focus on procurement and contract management for our Client, a European public sector organisation. You will work across the full stack — Java and Spring back-end services, an Oracle and PL/SQL data layer, and JavaScript front ends — and take technical ownership of the solutions you deliver, including the migration of legacy applications onto the current Java stack. The working environment is multilingual, with day-to-day communication in both English and French.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain full-stack features for financial and procurement information systems, covering Java and Spring back-end services, the Oracle and PL/SQL data layer, and JavaScript and jQuery front ends
• Take technical ownership of performance, security, and data integrity across the application and database layers, including schema design and query optimisation
• Work with business stakeholders and fellow engineers to turn procurement and contract management requirements into working software, and support colleagues through code review and knowledge sharing
• Lead the migration of legacy Adobe ColdFusion applications to the Java and Spring stack, preserving existing behaviour throughout
• Design, build, and secure RESTful APIs and web services, and integrate applications with Microsoft SharePoint (on premises and M365) and with document workflows involving Microsoft Office and PDF formats
• Apply event sourcing and CQRS design patterns where appropriate, and document designs using UML use case, state transition, and activity diagrams
• Integrate front-end and back-end builds into CI/CD pipelines and maintain established Git workflows
• Work within Agile and Scrum practices and align delivery with Open PM2 project management methodology

Requirements

• A university degree at master's level (or 5 years of higher education) with a minimum of 15 years of IT professional experience
• 10 years of experience with front-end development languages — JavaScript, HTML (version 5 or later), and CSS (version 3 or later) — including in-depth knowledge of the jQuery framework
• 12 years of experience with relational databases Oracle and the PL/SQL language, including Oracle 19 or later with materialized views, stored procedures, and functions, together with proficiency in schema design and query optimisation across MySQL, PostgreSQL (version 17 or later), and Oracle
• 5 years of experience with the Java programming language (version 17 or later) and the Spring framework (version 6 or later) with Spring Boot (version 3 or later), including designing, building, and securing RESTful APIs and web services
• 5 years of experience with financial and procurement information systems, with a particular focus on procurement and contract management, and with information systems managing documents (Microsoft Office and PDF) and their associated workflows
• In-depth knowledge of XML format and the XSLT language, experience developing information systems based on the event sourcing and CQRS design pattern, and experience migrating applications from Adobe ColdFusion (CFML) to the Java and Spring stack
• Experience integrating Java applications with Microsoft SharePoint (on premises and M365), with Git workflows (GitFlow, trunk-based), with the Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo), and knowledge of UML, in particular use case, state transition, and activity diagrams
• Good knowledge of Agile principles with experience in Scrum, and knowledge of project management methodologies, in particular Open PM2
• Very good knowledge of English and French, both spoken and written, corresponding to Level B2 or higher (CEFR), together with the capacity to ramp up quickly on new projects, collaborate within teams and take part in multi-lingual meetings, apply security and cloud best practices, and work both autonomously and as part of a team with a results-oriented mindset
